Can my face, fingerprint, or palm vein data be accessed by SwitchBot, family members, or third parties?
No. Your biometric data is encrypted and stored locally on the device. It is never uploaded to the cloud or shared with SwitchBot, family members, or third parties. Shared users cannot access your biometric data, and you can delete it at any time in the SwitchBot App.
Does biometric recognition rely on cloud AI processing? When connected to the internet, what data is transmitted to or processed by SwitchBot servers?
No. Biometric recognition is performed locally on the device, and your biometric data is not uploaded for cloud AI processing. Face data is converted into encrypted, non-reversible biometric features and stored locally. Communication between the device and lock uses AES-128 encryption. When connected to the internet, only the device MAC information, relevant control commands, and lock execution status are transmitted through SwitchBot servers by user command to enable connected features such as remote control and status synchronization.
Will it continuously take photos, record video, or monitor my doorway? When does face recognition start? Can I control it manually?
No. Keypad Vision Pro does not continuously record video, save images or video, or continuously monitor your doorway. Face recognition is activated only when enabled and someone enters the recognition range. You can adjust the recognition sensitivity or switch to manual triggering in the SwitchBot App.
Can I delete the biometric data stored on the device? Can it be recovered after deletion?
Yes. You can delete enrolled face, palm vein, or fingerprint data in the SwitchBot App. Once deleted, the biometric data is removed from the device and cannot be recovered. You will need to enroll it again to use that unlocking method.
Why do I need to register a SwitchBot account? Does registering an account mean my biometric data will be uploaded to the cloud?
A SwitchBot account is used for device binding, permission management, Home Sharing, remote control, device management, and automations. Registering an account does not upload your biometric data to the cloud. Your biometric data remains encrypted and stored locally on the device. Can photos or videos unlock my door?
No. Photos, images displayed on a screen, and videos cannot unlock the door. Face recognition uses infrared hardware and 3D depth information rather than relying on ordinary 2D images.
If my device is lost or stolen, is there a risk that my data could be leaked?
Your biometric data is encrypted and is not stored as readable photos, videos, or raw biometric data. Even if the device is lost or stolen, others cannot directly access your original biometric information. If your device is lost or stolen, we recommend changing your SwitchBot account password and unbinding the device as soon as possible.
Does it meet GDPR and other privacy and data protection requirements?
