Total Coverage Period: Up to three years from the original product purchase date, comprising the standard two-year SwitchBot commercial warranty plus one additional year under this paid Extended Warranty
Important: This Extended Warranty is optional and is additional to your legal rights. It does not replace, restrict, exclude or reduce any rights or remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK consumer law.
1. Purpose and Scope
These terms govern the paid one-year extended warranty service offered by SwitchBot for the SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max purchased through the official SwitchBot UK online store. By purchasing this Extended Warranty, the customer agrees to these terms.
Subject to the conditions below, SwitchBot will provide repair or replacement support for an eligible product during the Extended Warranty Period where a covered defect occurs.
2. Nature of the Extended Warranty
The Lock Ultra Max is supplied with a standard two-year SwitchBot commercial warranty. The paid Extended Warranty adds one further year of commercial warranty coverage after that two-year period ends. It therefore applies during the third year following the original product purchase date.
Your statutory rights are separate from this commercial warranty. In particular, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and any remedies available under applicable UK law remain unaffected.
3. Eligibility and Purchase Conditions
- The Extended Warranty applies only to a new SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max purchased from the official SwitchBot UK online store.
- The Extended Warranty must be purchased for the same Lock Ultra Max and linked to the relevant product order.
- The customer must retain the original order number, proof of purchase and the email address used for the order.
- The Extended Warranty is intended for the original purchaser and may not be transferred separately from the covered product unless applicable law requires otherwise.
- The service is intended for private household use in the United Kingdom. Business, professional, rental or institutional use is excluded unless expressly agreed in writing.
4. Price and Coverage Period
The price of the one-year Extended Warranty is £24.90, as displayed at checkout. The Extended Warranty begins immediately after the standard two-year commercial warranty ends and expires at the end of the third year following the original product purchase date.
A repair, replacement, service delay or temporary inability to use the product does not restart or extend the coverage period, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
5. Covered Defects
A defect is covered only where all of the following conditions are met:
- The defect occurs during the Extended Warranty Period.
- The product has been installed, maintained and used under normal household conditions and in accordance with the official user manual and safety instructions.
- Following inspection or remote diagnosis, SwitchBot determines that the defect results from a failure in materials, workmanship or an internal component for which SwitchBot is responsible.
- There is no evidence of accidental damage, misuse, unauthorised modification or another excluded cause.
6. Exclusions
The Extended Warranty does not cover:
- Accidental damage, impact, crushing, deformation, scratches, cosmetic damage, liquid ingress, fire or other external damage.
- Incorrect installation, improper handling, misuse, abuse, neglect, use outside the published operating conditions or failure to follow the official instructions.
- Damage caused by doors, locks, cylinders, frames, third-party accessories or other products that are incompatible, defective or improperly installed.
- Unauthorised repair, disassembly, modification, software manipulation or use of parts not approved by SwitchBot.
- Damage caused by abnormal voltage, power supply issues, network or radio interference, or external electrical conditions.
- Loss, theft, deliberate damage, or damage caused by fire, flood, storm, lightning, earthquake or other external events or force majeure.
- Batteries and other consumable items, normal wear and tear, gradual deterioration, reduced battery capacity, protective coatings or cosmetic finishes.
- A product that cannot be identified, has an altered or removed serial number, or was not purchased through an eligible official sales channel.
- Data loss, loss of access, indirect or consequential loss, installation costs, locksmith fees, door or property damage, or loss relating to any item other than the covered Lock Ultra Max, except where such exclusion is prohibited by law.
- Any condition that is not attributable to a defect in the covered product.
7. Warranty Service and Remedies
SwitchBot will reasonably determine, after reasonable diagnosis or inspection, whether a covered product should be repaired or replaced. Repairs and replacements approved under this Extended Warranty will be provided without a repair charge to the customer, subject to these terms. If a claim is rejected, SwitchBot will provide the customer with the reason for rejection.
Replacement products or parts may be new or professionally refurbished and will provide equivalent or better functionality. Where the original model is unavailable, SwitchBot may provide a reasonably equivalent successor product.
The aggregate value of services provided under the Extended Warranty will not exceed the original purchase price paid for the covered Lock Ultra Max. If repair is not reasonably possible or the repair cost would exceed that limit, SwitchBot may complete its obligations under this Extended Warranty by providing an equivalent replacement. Nothing in this clause limits remedies that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Number of Claims
There is no fixed limit on the number of covered repair requests during the Extended Warranty Period, provided that the aggregate service limit has not been reached and each request independently satisfies these terms.
9. How to Make a Claim
Before returning the product or arranging any repair, the customer must contact SwitchBot Customer Support through the contact channel published on the official SwitchBot UK website.
The customer may be asked to provide the order number, proof of purchase, the email address used for the order, the product serial number, photographs or video, diagnostic information and a description of the defect. SwitchBot may provide troubleshooting steps before authorising a return, repair or replacement.
Products must not be sent to SwitchBot without prior return authorisation and shipping instructions. Reasonable cooperation may be required to complete diagnosis and service.
10. Replacement Products
A replacement supplied during the standard two-year commercial warranty does not restart the original three-year timeline. Where an equivalent replacement is supplied as the final remedy under this Extended Warranty, the commercial Extended Warranty will be treated as fulfilled. Any statutory rights applying to the replacement remain unaffected. A replacement supplied under this Extended Warranty will remain covered for the unexpired remainder of the original Extended Warranty Period, subject to these terms.
11. Optional Nature, Cancellation and Refunds
Purchasing this Extended Warranty is optional. You may already have legal rights against the seller, and other insurance or payment-card benefits may also provide relevant cover. You do not have to purchase this Extended Warranty at the same time as the product, and similar cover may be available from other providers.
Where the Supply of Extended Warranties on Domestic Electrical Goods Order 2005 applies, the customer may cancel this Extended Warranty within forty-five (45) days of purchase and receive a full refund, provided no claim has been made. Any cancellation rights after that period will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the cancellation terms disclosed at the time of sale. After that period, the customer may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund calculated by reference to the remaining unexpired period, subject to applicable law. SwitchBot will provide the written cancellation information required by applicable law within the required timeframe.
Any other statutory cancellation rights, including rights that may apply to distance contracts, remain unaffected. Any additional cancellation or refund conditions published by the official SwitchBot UK store also apply, provided they do not reduce mandatory consumer rights.
12. Customer Costs
The customer is responsible for costs arising from non-covered damage, unauthorised repairs, optional installation or removal services, and any work performed without prior approval. Where inspection confirms that the defect is covered, approved repair or replacement will be handled in accordance with these terms and applicable law.
13. Personal Data
Personal data provided in connection with the Extended Warranty will be processed in accordance with the SwitchBot Privacy Policy, the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable data-protection law. Information will be used as necessary to verify eligibility, diagnose the product, administer claims, provide customer support, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations. The Privacy Policy identifies the data controller and provides further information on contact details, legal bases, retention periods, data-subject rights and any international transfers.
14. Fraud and Misrepresentation
SwitchBot may reject or cancel a claim where the customer knowingly provides false information, alters proof of purchase, conceals material facts or engages in fraudulent conduct. SwitchBot may recover reasonable costs incurred as a result of fraud where permitted by law.
15. Changes to These Terms
The version of these terms supplied or made available when the Extended Warranty is purchased will govern that purchase. SwitchBot may update the terms for future purchases, but no later change will reduce rights already acquired under an existing Extended Warranty or any mandatory statutory rights.
16. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the applicable law of the part of the United Kingdom in which the customer resides, subject to mandatory consumer-protection and conflict-of-law rules. Customers may rely on the mandatory protections and courts available to them in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, as applicable. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
17. Contact
Claims and enquiries should be submitted through the customer-support contact details published on the official SwitchBot UK website at the time of the request.
