There is no need to download another "Matter" App. You still need to use your previous smart home ecosystem (Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings) and SwitchBot App.

A Matter controller is required to control Matter devices, which are always stationed at home, plugged in, and connected to the Internet. So, a smartphone can not be used as a Matter Controller. A smartphone is needed only when adding Matter devices to the smart home ecosystem (Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings)

With Wi-Fi, Matter devices are able to connect natively via IP to the cloud using an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure already available. SwitchBot Hub 2 supports Matter over Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi and Thread are two types of networking technology.

For users, there is no difference in the process of adding and using Matter over Wi-Fi and Matter over Thread.

· For SwitchBots' existing Bluetooth-enabled products, such as Curtain and Blind Tilt, Matter will be available in the future by connecting via SwitchBot Hub 2.

· For SwitchBots' Wi-Fi-enabled products, Matter will be available in the future without the need for a Hub.

Matter is a new smart home protocol developed jointly by Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung and many other manufacturers to eliminate incompatibilities in the smart home once and for all. The protocol incorporates many benefits of HomeKit, including an ultra-secure and completely local infrastructure. Adding a Matter product to the Home App is the same process as adding a HomeKit, by simply scanning a device QR Code and adding the device to the Home App.

Yes, you can still use your SwitchBot devices on our app as before. 

These features will not be fully reflected on the platform you normally use. It depends on the platform you use for that type of device's functionality. For example, auto lock, and pairing with Keypad can not be set on smart home platform but can via our app.

Temperature and humidity will be displayed on both Apple Home and Google Home after SwitchBot Hub 2 gets Matter certification.

· Alexa has currently announced support for a limited number of Matter device types, currently not including thermostat, lock and curtain.
· SwitchBot Hub 2 is always available on the Alexa platform through Works With Alexa.

 Matter supports the device side, not the cloud side, so manual scenes on SwitchBot App will not automatically synced to Apple Home App, Alexa App, nor Google Home App.

Hub 2 will bring SwitchBot Curtain (U rail 1&2/ I rail1&2 / Rod 1&2 ) / Blind Tilt into Matter at the beginning of March. There is no need to buy a new SwitchBot Curtain device. 

Unfortunately not. Hub Mini can not support Matter with its current hardware configuration. You would need purchase Hub 2 to support SwitchBot Matter device.

No. If Hub 2 is added as a Matter device on Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, Hub 2 itself appears as an inert Control Bridge device type. But you can still use our Works with Alexa and Works with Google Home to control IR remotes.
