I was really excited when this came out, it detects motion but you can set it to only pick up on humans too...further to this you can set a zone where you select the area where it only should detect motion/humans...for a long time I had this setup to detect motion with an area only encompassing the TV so it would know if the TV was on or off to then execute other routines on Alexa. Now I use it with home assistant to greet people if detects anyone (this tells me if I forgot to stop recording while i'm at home, otherwise it automatically goes into privacy mode). This brings me to the next point...a really cool feature I found out many months later is that you can turn on/off privacy mode through voice commands with alexa/google! At this point if you are considering a camera i'd advise you to get one of the newer models with the pan/tilt feature...however so far I had many security cameras from different brands and the features of this switchbot option makes this standout. I had to get a second one sent to me as the first one had its microusb charging port a bit too deep that the camera kept disconnecting, however the company quickly responded and sent me a new one. Keep in mind that video feed on the microsd card is encrypted so you do have to record clips from within the app to export the footage. Also you cannot it up as an IP camera to view footage through a URL or another UI such as home assistant.

This is a great little camera for keeping eyes on the pets. It has a really wide angle and you can easily zoom in an any point from the original frame. Originally I couldn't get the stand to attach and was worried I would break it if forced, but after checking a couple of online videos I realise I needed to be very firm and it clicked in. Only looses 1 start as have to use phone to view, unable to use laptop.
